About 25 years ago, my mother gave me a beautiful sweet cocker I named Angel. Everyone loved her so much that 2 of my friends begged me to breed her so they could have a puppy. Angel was only 18 pounds, so I had trouble finding a suitable male cocker.
That is when my sister suggested cockapoos. I found a poodle to breed her with and had 6 beautiful puppies. I kept one and gave the rest away to friends and family. I talked my husband into letting Angel have another litter the next year.
One week after breeding Angel, for the second time, my husband passed away suddenly. Having the new litter, 2 months later, kept me busy and helped me get through some of the hardest times of my life. Eventually I got another cocker and then my own poodle. I decided then it was time to move to the country in search of more land for my new home, Kathy's Kountry Kennel. By the way my house is the kennel because I had to come up with a business name and my friends always called my house the kennel. LOL
My mission is to be a good conscientious breeder and to let people know that there are some of us left. Educating as many people as possible on how to buy a good healthy family dog is one of my greatest goals. There are many people who are irresponsibly breeding and dealing dogs and I want to assure you I am not one of them. You know you are doing something right when your clients call you after they have taken their new pups to the vet and the vet tells them that they can tell the puppy has come from a good loving breeder.
